Bapco employees actively participate at the 2nd GDA Conference and Exhibition 2023
16 February 2023Under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, the 2nd International Gulf Downstream Conference and Exhibition (GDA 2023) was held. The opening ceremony was attended by Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery, Bapco’s Chief Executive Officer, and a number of Bapco’s management and delegation.
During the opening ceremony, His Excellency Dr. Mohamed bin Mubarak Bin Daina, Minister of Oil and Environment and Special Envoy for Climate Affairs, visited Bapco’s stand. He stated that "The Refinery Modernization Project will enhance quantity and quality and improve energy efficiency, making it one of the most competitive refineries in compliance with environmental standards in the world."
The three-day event, themed "Downstream Turning Points: Capitalizing on Transformation," attracted over 5,000 delegates, including industry executives who provided a rare opportunity for the industry leaders.
Bapco, a founding member of the Gulf Downstream Association, participated actively in the conference sessions. A total of six technical sessions were presented by Bapco, with five moderators and four panelists. The Bapco delegates exchanged information and experience in order to enhance capabilities and boost skills to improve productivity in conformity with international standards, which contribute to creating competition in the oil and gas sector and enhance the attractive environment for investments in this field.
The conference served as an opportunity to discuss various topics, current challenges, and appropriate solutions for the growth and prosperity of the refining industry through the implementation of new strategies and business models and the establishment of joint ventures. The discussions at the conference addressed challenges and opportunities for the growth of the refining industry, flexibility, decarbonization, and sustainability, obstacles and digitization in the refining and processing sectors, marketing and human capital management, market analysis, and industry trends.
