Dr. Ghadeer Al Zaben, Specialist of Hyperbaric Medicine has been working with the Awali Hospital since 2016. Her area of specialty is Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine.
The Hyperbaric and Wound Care Unit at the Awali Hospital provides services such as treatment with 100% oxygen under high pressure to treat various medical condition and recommended for wellbeing. In addition, the unit is specialized in treating acute and hard to heal wound such as infected wounds post operations, diabetic ulcers, venous insufficiencies and many more. During the year 2024, the unit is launching two new modalities to aid early detection and to prevent complications related to diabetic feet.
In 2023, Dr. Ghadeer attained two diving certificates from the prestigious Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh, Scotland and Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society in San Diego, United States of America, to further develop her skills in diving medicine as it is a rare but highly in demand field in the Arabian Gulf region.
These certificates granted Dr Ghadeer to become the first female in the Arabian Gulf region to be certified as Physician Training in Diving Medicine approved by the Diving Medical Advisory Committee (DMAC) and the European Diving Technology Committee (EDTC) as a DMAC/EDTC med level 2D.
